Conflict Archive on the INternet (CAIN)

Conflict Archive on the INternet (CAIN) is a project by the International Conflict Research Institute at Ulster University. The project seeks to publish online primary source material documenting the political situation and conflict in Northern Ireland from 1968 to the present day. The project began in 1996 and a website launched in March 1997.

The National Archives is among a number of archival institutions that contribute digitised images of archives in our collections for inclusion on the CAIN website. Departmental files are selected by CAIN researchers, in collaboration with staff from the National Archives, from the archives of various Departments of State. These include the Department of Foreign Affairs, Department of the Taoiseach and Department of Justice. Further information is available on the project website www.cain.ulst.ac.uk.
