22.11.07

The thirteenth volume in the Documents on Irish Foreign Policy (DIFP) series runs from April 1965–July 1969. It covers the Fianna Fáil governments of Seán Lemass (April 1965–November 1966) and Jack Lynch (November 1966–July 1969) in which Frank Aiken was Minister for External Affairs. The four years and three months covered by DIFP volume XIII saw significant changes in the international context in which Ireland conducted its foreign policy.

Three of the editors have each chosen a document from the volume which will feature as a File in Focus feature each week during the month of November. Dr Michael Kennedy will discuss transatlantic aviation in 1967, Dr John Gibney will focus on the resignation of French President Charles de Gaulle in 1968 while Dr Kate O’Malley writes about the Irish message of goodwill taken to the moon by the crew of Apollo 11 in 1969.
