Opening hours and document ordering times
The Reading Room of the National Archives – dedicated to the memory of the first Chairman of the National Archives Advisory Council, Justice Niall McCarthy – is open from Monday to Friday, 10.00 till 17.00, to members of the public in possession of a valid reader’s ticket.
Documents may be ordered by readers from 10.00-12.15 and 13.30-15.15 daily. Archives ordered by a reader in person which are held in off-site storage are produced in the Reading Room at 10.00 on the following working day. Readers are advised to check the exact situation regarding the archives they have ordered by phoning in advance of their visit.
