Report of 28 March 1916

The report of 28 March 1916 records a brief visit by Thomas J Clarke to his shop at 75 Parnell Street. Clarke is observed leaving the shop in the company of John McGarry and heading to 41 Rutland Square. Upon his return, he is observed in conversation with Seán T Ó Ceallaigh ‘who had entered the place in the meantime’.
The departure of Charles S [Wyse] Power by train to Tullamore [King’s County/ County Offaly] is noted.
A meeting in the office of the Irish Volunteers, 2 Dawson Street, is attended by Patrick Hughes, Terence J McSwiney, Jeremiah Joseph O’Connell, Herbert ‘Barney’ Mellows, [James] O’Connor, Patrick Ryan and Laurence Raul. Michael J O’Rahilly is observed in the same location later in the evening.
Seán MacDiarmada and John McGarry are observed together at 12 D’Olier Street.
The departure of Terence J McSwiney by train to Cork, Joseph Murray to Drogheda [County Louth] and Patrick Hughes to Dundalk [County Louth] is noted.
The report concludes with details of a visit by Mirian Peroliz [Mary Perolz] to Tralee [County Kerry]. Peroliz [Perolz] is described as ‘the registered owner of The Spark’, ‘a member of Cumann na mBan’ and ‘a close friend of Countess Markievicz’. It is noted in the Report of 27 March 1916 that Markievicz was prevented by military authorities from travelling to Kerry.
The report concludes with details of a drill by around 70 members of the Irish Volunteers in the hall at the rear of 41 Rutland Square in the presence of Éamonn J Duggan, FJ McCabe, Thomas J Clarke and John McGarry.
