The National Archives holds much material relevant to genealogical research and while it cannot perform searches on behalf of the public, the in-house Genealogy Service provides free advice and assistance to those visitors researching their family trees.

For members of the public unable to undertake their research in person, there is the option of employing professional researchers and those who undertake paid searches in the National Archives and elsewhere can be contacted at the addresses below. Please note that the National Archives does not accept any responsibility for either the work done or the fees charged by any of the researchers listed.
