Will of Lance Corporal Fred Williamson, E266768.

Lance Corporal Fred Williamson of the 14th Battalion, Royal Irish Rifles was killed in action on the first day of the Battle of the Somme, 1 July 1916. In his will, Private Williamson leaves all his property and effects to his mother Mrs Alice Williamson of Muckamore, County Antrim. On the reverse of the will is an extract from Private Williamson’s diary of October 1915 detailing his arrival in France.

The 1911 Census of Ireland notes Fred Williamson’s profession as Millright and he was living at home with his parents David Williamson and Alice Williamson at 68 Muckamore Town, County Antrim.

According to the Commonwealth War Graves Commission, Lance Corporal Williamson is commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial at the Somme, France.
