(Above) Letter dated 26 October 1962 from Erskine Childers to Taoiseach Seán Lemass in which he complains about the protocol or lack thereof surrounding the President’s toast, the correct method of addressing an audience, the rules regarding the flying of the national flag and the “great deal of laxity…in connection with the playing of the National Anthem, which I am sure you yourself have observed.”
