June 2007

(Above) Letter dated 30 June 1936 from JW Dulanty, High Commissioner for the Irish Free State in London, to the Secretary of the Department of External Affairs in Dublin, relating to the application from the playwright, George Bernard Shaw and his wife for registration in the Register of Nationals. As Shaw does not possess documentary evidence that he was born in Dublin even though the fact of his having been born there is incontrovertible, Mr Dulanty requests that an extension for registration be granted in both cases.
