(Above) Irish Times newspaper article dated 17 September 1951 detailing the unveiling by Phyllis O’Kelly (wife of President Seán T O’Kelly) at Aughrim Bridge, county Wicklow, of a plaque commemorating the centenary of the death of Anne Devlin.
The housekeeper of Robert Emmet, leader of the rebellion of 1803, Anne Devlin was a conspirator in the revolt and was tortured and imprisoned for her part in the uprising.
