(Above) Garda Síochána report dated 21 February 1934 regarding an incident at the Fine Gael dance at the Mayoralty Rooms in Drogheda on 9 February 1934. According to the report, known local members of the IRA gathered outside and flung stones at nearby cars and at the windows of the building and then invaded the dancehall only to be driven back by a baton charge made by Garda reinforcements. The report provides the names and addresses of those who “appeared to be responsible for the menacing attitude of the crowd” and states that £132 worth of damage was done and malicious injury claims lodged as a result of the trouble.
