(Above) Memorandum from the collection of the Chief Secretary’s Office Registered Papers noting the locations throughout the country where orange emblems were displayed on the Twelfth of July, 1839. The memorandum details on a county-by-county basis, the location, the name of the reporting officer and a description of the type of flags flown.
