(Above) From the archives of the Department of Foreign Affairs, the official itinerary of President Richard Milhous Nixon’s visit to Ireland, 3-5 October 1970. Some of his and his wife Patricia’s engagements included a State lunch hosted by the Taoiseach Jack Lynch and his wife Mairín in Dublin Castle on Monday 5 October, followed by meetings between Nixon and Lynch and their respective ministers for foreign affairs, Dr PJ Hillery TD, and the United States Secretary of State, Mr William P Rogers.
