Fully indexed by name and searchable by all categories, such as religion, location, occupation, place of birth, relationship to head of household etc., and with free access to the digitised images of the original manuscript household forms, the returns can be viewed on the census site at http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie - the site also contains a wealth of photographs and essays on life in Ireland at that time, with links to illustrative census forms.
